Press Release:

Mr. Richard Grana recently received membership into the KY District Export Council and simultaneously the TN District Export Council by Mr. Grant Aldonas, Under Secretary for International Trade during the US District Export Council National Conference in October. Mr. Grana is one of the very few individuals in the US to concurrently serve on two District Export Councils.
The Kentucky District Export Council (KyDEC) is an association of experienced international trade professionals appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to foster and support Kentucky exports. Like its sister-councils in other states, KyDEC is a non-profit, volunteer organization. Its members, chosen for their personal knowledge and involvement in exporting, are among the state’s foremost leaders in international business. Successful exporting firms are represented on the Council, as well as freight forwarders, international banks, international law firms, economic development groups, federal and state trade agencies, and other organizations engaged in the day-to-day business of developing Kentucky exports.
DECs volunteer their time to sponsor and participate in numerous trade promotion activities, as well as to supply specialized expertise to small and medium-sized businesses that are interested in exporting. They create seminars on exporting basics and trade finance, host international buyer delegations, design breakthrough guides to help firms export and help build export assistance partnerships to strengthen the support given to local businesses interested in exporting. In order to help small businesses succeed in the world economy, DECs also provide mentoring and peer level counseling to individual firms. DECs advocate for the small and medium-sized U.S. exporter and speak out on national trade policy issues through a variety of means, including the issuance of trade policy recommendations at their annual national conference. The Council meets in plenary session once each quarter. Between sessions, Council projects are carried forward by the Executive Committee and three ad hoc committees representing the group’s strategic goals.
